IS IT PRONOUNCED LEGO OR LAYGO
THIS IS THE QUESTION!!
Living in South Australia we have come across this question over and over again..
is it laygo or LEGO®..
Well I can answer this without a doubt.. it is definetly LEGO® pronounced as it looks ( LEG-O )
The LEG0 company started very small by Ole Kirk Christiansen. who was a very poor carpenter in Denmark. In 1932 he started making wooden toys in his workshop. but in 1947 his son Godtfred Christiansen got some samples of another brand of plastic interlocking bricks. So they began producing a similar brick calling them automatic binding bricks. The company was then named in danish "leg godt" which in translation means " play well" it can also be translated into the meaning of " I asemble" in latin.
In Australia most states do pronounce the word LEG-O so as it stands so far I have only noticed South Australia as the state mispronouncing it by calling it LAY-GO.
If you live in another state of Australia or somewhere else in the world and have an opinion on this please contact us and let us know..
I WILL ADD MORE STATISITCS AS WE FIND OUT MORE.
